Delta valerolactone is a versatile chemical intermediate used in different fields, mainly used to replace caprolactone in ink and coating additives. The technology of using valerolactone instead of caprolactone in ink and coating additive production was introduced from abroad. Compared with products produced only with caprolactone, valerolactone has the advantages of better viscosity reduction and low-temperature non solidification. The current formula for cultivation is introduced from Japan, which is a combination of caprolactone and valerolactone. 70% of caprolactone is used with 30% valerolactone. However, due to cost reasons, domestic manufacturers have reduced the usage of valerolactone accordingly, adding only about 17%. Moreover, valerolactone cannot completely replace caprolactone in terms of use.
